Unblackened - It's Here

For all Black Label Society and Zakk Wylde fans out there, this is probably the most important piece of work that Zakk and the guys have released in a long time. Especially for old school fans of Zakk Wylde, from back in the Pride & Glory and Solo ("Way Beyond Empty") days, that may not have gotten into BLS quite as much (as if that's possible). First off, this is a nice, toned down concert where the feel is more intimate than a big stadium show and yet the music is still awe-inspiringly amazing just more laid back. You really get to hear Zakk sing, you get to hear just how good his voice really is! Plus, he reaches way far back in the back of tricks to bring us songs all the way from Pride & Glory, Book of Shadows, The Blessed Hellride, Order of the Black and everywhere in between. Check out the list of songs I have below. I thought I was in a time machine while watching this concert!

I can tell you, I own everything Zakk and Black Label Society have released that I know about. The point is, I have a long history with this type of product of his and I was frickin' blown away by this concert. This is not only one of the best performances that I have seen, with the best song selection, but the quality of the recording is the best so far. It's like they just get better and better!

I don't know just how many people know what a good piano player Zakk is, but he's more than just a six-string metal god, he can tickle the ivories with the best of 'em too! I asked Zakk if he took lessons or was trained by someone or did he simply teach himself how to play. He told me that he did in fact teach himself how to play, and that he is a huge Elton John fan. That would make sense because Elton John is a remarkable piano player as well.

You get to enjoy Zakk really shining as a piano player at this concert and Nick the "Evil Twin" Catanese gets to tear it up on the guitar too. Everyone gets a moment to shine at this show.
